Friday's Letters

Dear Spring Break, Thank you so much for gracing us with your presence.  I have been looking for you for weeks.  Dear Hotlanta, I can't wait to visit you this weekend.  Aquarium, coke world, and lots of food here we come!  Dear Piper, your constant need to burn my nostrils with your farts is totally unnecessary.  Please stop.  Dear hubby, I can't wait to spend a weekend away with you for some much needed us time.  Dear diet, you suck.  The end.  Dear maple tree, please stop sapping on my car.  It looks like a true hooptie now.  Dear house, please decorate yourself.  It's very expensive and I am so indecisive, which makes things difficult.  Dear new iPhone, you complete me.  Thanks hubby for the awesome birthday present!  Dear 25th year of life, please be good to me.  I need a drama free year.  Thanks!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  We will be in Atlanta, so if anyone has some suggestions on place to eat we are definitely open!

Friendship

Sorry I have been so absent on here lately.  I promise I'm not abandoning you, I've just had some serious writer's block, like really bad.  Anyways, a topic I have been thinking a lot about lately is friendship.  As a woman friends are critical.  Growing up, during your middle and high school years, nothing could come between you and your girlfriends.  They are the ones you told your deepest secrets to, the ones you danced around the kitchen at 2 AM with, and the ones who knew you better than you knew yourself.  As we get older the importance of friendship does not change, but the types of friendships do change.

Whether we like to admit it or not friends don't always stick around, no matter how close you are to them.  People come and go, your expectations change, you change, and your life moves forward regardless.  I think especially when you get married you redefine your friendships.  I no longer run to my closest girlfriend to pour my heart out to, I turn to my husband.  Instead of planning my weekend around my friends, I plan to spend time with my husband.  Some people stick around for the ride and join in the change, while others jump ship.

This doesn't mean that a married woman doesn't need friends, she certainly does.  Marriage just changes your friendships, whether we like it or not.  There are times when I yearn for my old best friends and that time of my life was amazing.  The Lord really blessed me with some great friends as I grew up.  Those women shaped part of my life and I am thankful for that.  Friends mold and shape us, they live life with us.

The good thing is, the Lord's timing is perfect.  He knows exactly who we need in our lives at any given moment.  I can speak this through experience.  I know that my old friendships are not going to be brought back to their glory days, but I do know that the Lord is constantly moving.  As our lives change, the people are strategically placed at any given moment.  See, the Lord makes all things new.  I used to be in a really dark place in the area of friendship in my life.  I don't like to admit that, but it was a dark time of my life.  The good news, the Lord is working through and making friendship new in my life.  I can see him placing Godly women in my life and bringing me out of the darkness to a new point of light.  He is restoring my belief in friendship and I see a new purpose through it all.

One

Today is my booboo's first birthday.  I can't believe.  It seems like just yesterday we were meeting sweet little Piper.  Now, she is a big girl, weighing in at 45 pounds.  Piper, you are so loved and I am so blessed that you are a part of our little family.  Happy birthday baby girl!

Quirks

I don't know if it is a result of getting older (yep soon to be 25...eeek), finding myself, increased awareness, or just plain weirdness, but I have noticed recently these little unique things about myself that make me laugh.  Not only me, but Brandon eats up these little quirks and he doesn't hesitate to jab at them (in a loving way of course).  But, here you go- some crazy quirky characteristics about me.

First, I am high-five impaired.  Seriously, I can't land a high five straight on to save my life.  Brandon makes me practice with him.  Yes, this is true.  Don't you learn to properly high five when you are like...say five??  It never works.  I'm self-conscious about it.  Every time someone raises their hand in gesture of a high five my stomach tenses and I get all nervous.  I'm like "just aim girl, just aim".

Secondly, I cannot park on the right hand side of the car.  I always end up straddling the line of parking spaces.   I'm one of those cars that you just want to key their car because they are so incompetent, yes I am one of those, but only on the right side.  I can park pretty well on the left.

I can't stand someone talking in my ear. Brandon will do this on purpose.  He will make it so his voice is low and sends the vibrations straight into my ear canal.   It sends chills down my spine.  Seriously, sitting here typing this makes me cringe.  Even for a while afterward I tense up and am afraid it will happen again.  Ew, shivers.

These are just a few of my crazy quirks.  I giggle about them, but they make me who I am.  What kinds of quirks do you have??

31

Hey girls!  This one's for you.  One of my dear friends in my Bible study group has just started consulting for Thirty-One Gifts.  If you aren't familiar with Thirty-One they are a company that sells ADORABLE bags and accessories.  Their mission is to help women take time for themselves and to help women feel good about themselves.  Their company is based off of the scripture from Proverbs 31.  All that to say, I am hosting a party to help her get started!  Since you all live all over the place I am offering you the opportunity to attend virtually!  I am going to post the link for the new spring catalog and a link to where you can securely place an order.  I just bought my sister-in-law the Organizing Utility Tote and it is a great bag.  So useful and versatile.  Another great thing, you can monogram most any of the products for only $7.  So, take a look at the catalog and pick out something adorable.  Be sure to use the second link to place your order.

TO ORDER:

Something Beautiful

Last night was the night I had been waiting for for a few months, the NEEDTOBREATHE concert!!  I had an absolutely awful day at work yesterday, I mean awful, so I was so grateful that we had a fun night planned.  Normally, our Friday nights consist of watching a movie and going to bed, but this was an event people.  After I got home from work, I put on my cute clothes and we headed out for a date night with Needtobreathe.  I can honestly say, it was one of the best shows I have been to.  They have such raw talent, it's amazing.  We had great seats, which is also a rarity for me at concerts.  Usually I am looking on from the top of Mt. Everest, but not last night.  No, I was 9 rows back!  It was a smallish theater, not the huge arenas I am used to and this made for a great concert experience.   I loved every single second of it.  I even think Brandon enjoyed it and he is not a huge music junkie.  Last night was truly a treat and I can't wait to see them again.

P.S. Sorry the pictures are blurry.  I didn't want to use a flash in the middle of the show.
